0145 damping adjustment valve

Fault code 0145 damping adjustment valve rear right is related to the problem with the air matic shocks which is occupied with the damping valve adjustment system. Damping valve adjustment is the new feature added to air suspension. The advantage of this new technology is a significant increase in comfort and driving safety. Damping valves decrease the force by the potholes on the road at suspension. This means any movement by the body remains as smooth and comfortable for the passengers as possible. It is connected to an air suspension control module with the help of two signal wires.

This two-pin signal wire is use to send a signal to a control module about the damping valve. The air suspension control module receives this signal, according to which it controls the air suspension height through the valve. If there is any problem with the damping valve, either its internal system stops sending a signal or its two-pin wire gets disconnected from the damping valve. Then air suspension control module will not receive any signal, due to which this fault code will be stored in the control module.

Causes of 0145 damping adjustment valve:

Faulty damping valve internal parts.

The damaged wiring harness of the sensor.

The blown fuse of the control module.

Faulty air suspension control module.

The vehicle needs to be calibrate for its air suspension height.

Symptoms of 0145 damping adjustment valve:

The chassis malfunction warning light will start illuminating on cluster.

Fault code is stored in the control module.

The height of the vehicle may not be stable.

The height of the vehicle may be down from its.

How to troubleshoot:

When the chassis malfunctions warning light starts illuminating on cluster meter. You need to hook up the scan tool to find out the fault code stored in the control module. In the chassis management system, many control modules are involved. You need to check each control module one by one to find out the fault code due to which this warning light is illuminating. When found fault code 0145 damping adjustment valve rear right the store in the control module. First, you need to check visually if there is any problem present at the place of air suspension. Like if the wiring harness of the damping valve is damaged or disconnected.

If the wiring harness is damaged or disconnected from its connector then you need to repair or reconnect it at its place. That problem can be solved and the warning light should not flash on the cluster meter. If still fault code is stored in the control module the warning light is illuminating on the cluster meter. Then you need to check this problem in deep to find out the failure part.

To confirm that if the damping valve is faulty you need to swap the air suspension. From right to left and left to right. If the fault code shifts from left to right then it means that the damping valve is faulty. If the fault code did not shift from left to right then it means that the damping valve is not faulty. There is some other problem which causing this fault code stored in the control module.

Now check the wiring harness of the damping valve if you find any damage or loose connection across the wiring harness then repair it or make a perfect connection. If still warning light is still appearing on the cluster meter then it means that there is some other problem. Check the valve block from where air goes towards the air suspension. Sometimes when the valve block fails it does not supply the required amount of air to the air suspension.

As a result which one side height of the vehicle gets lower? When one side of the vehicle’s height gets lower air suspension feels more pressure. This pressure will also exert pressure on the damping valve. Due to this pressure, the fault of the failure damping valve can be stored in the control module. If the valve block is faulty then replace that faulty valve block so that the height of the vehicle could be stable. When vehicle height is stable this fault code will automatically go off.

If still fault code does not go off and warning light is illuminated on the cluster meter. Then you need to check the controller of the air suspension. If there is any problem in the control module then this fault code will store in the control module. Check if the control module is faulty then replace that faulty control module to solve the problem.

How risky it is to drive with this fault code:

Driving with this fault code stored in the control module is not a risky job. In this situation, there will be only one problem in a vehicle the height of the vehicle will be slightly lower or higher. When the height of the vehicle is low or high then there will be no risk while driving. But you need to be careful while driving because when you continue to drive in this condition your experience of driving may get disturbed. Due to the up and down of vehicle height from all four sides.

Precaution needs to be care:

While troubleshooting fault code 0145 damping adjustment valve rear right you need to be very careful as it might be very costly. You need to be focused on these things very carefully

  • First visually check the damping valve area if there is any problem seen then repair that.
  • Before replacing the air suspension due to the fault of the damping valve you might check everything very carefully. As it is the most expensive part of the vehicle.
  • Before replacing the air suspension swap it from left to right or right to left to confirm whether the air suspension damping valve is faulty or not. As when you will swap air suspension the fault code will also change.
  • If the fault code did not change then it means that there is some other fault. The damping valve is perfectly good and there is no fault.

What was in my case?

In my case, there was a problem with a loose pin connection at the connector. But it was very difficult to find out this problem connector pin was slightly outside its position. Due to this, we were unable to find out the problem. First, we swap the air suspension from left to right to confirm the fault code. However, the fault code did change from its original position. After this, we tried to find the damaged wiring harness of the connector but we did not find any damaged wiring harness which was connected with the connector of the damping valve. We replaced the control module to confirm the fault code but the problem was the same as usual.

Then we started checking the wiring from the beginning of the connector then if found that from the two pin of connectors, one was slightly lower than the other. When we fix this pin and re-connect the connector of the damping valve. The problem was completely solved.
