D35A53 Steering angle of Front axle invalid Signal actuation transmitter ICM

Fault code D35A53 Steering angle of Front axle invalid Signal actuation transmitter ICM is related to the problem with steering angle sensor. Steering angle sensor is use to monitor turning angle of steering wheel by driver. ICM (integrated chassis management) is a control module which is used to monitor different signal from different sensor. Give command to the all control module accordingly. This control module monitor signal of steering angle sensor and send this signal to the required control module like DSC (Dynamic Stability Control). DSC control module use this signal while braking so that vehicle does not skid when brake applied by the driver at the time of taking turn. Like this steering angle sensor signal is used by different control module at different time.

When there is any problem occur at steering angle sensor due which angle sensor does not generate signal of about steering turn than control module store fault code in memory. This could be happed due multiple reasons like, sometime when technician remove angle sensor outside from its place for any reason and failed to place angle sensor at proper place. Then also this fault code could be store in control module. Like this there are many reason due to which this kind of problem can be seen in vehicle.

Causes of D35A53 Steering angle of Front axle invalid Signal actuation transmitter ICM:

  • Faulty steering angle sensor.
  • Improper placement of steering angle sensor.
  • Damage wiring harness of the steering angle sensor.
  • Failure of any other control module.
  • Calibration required of steering angle sensor.

Symptoms of D35A53 Steering angle of Front axle invalid Signal actuation transmitter ICM:

  • Angle sensor warning light illuminate on cluster meter.
  • Fault code will store in control module.
  • Steering may become so hard while driving.
  • Braking system will not work proper.

How to trouble shoot:

  • Whenever angle sensor warning indicator light is illuminating on cluster meter. You need to check reason behind which could be there for multiple reasons. Hook up scan tool to find out fault code due to which warning light is illuminating on cluster meter. When found fault D35A63 Steering angle of Front axle invalid Signal actuation transmitter ICM store in control module.
  • In this situation you need to check signal of steering angle sensor with the help of scan tool. With the help of scan tool go to check reading of steering angle sensor. While turn steering to right or left side check reading of angle sensor in scan tool if reading of angle sensor is moving as steering is turn to right or left. Than it means that angle sensor is working fine there is some other problem in vehicle which is causing this fault code to be store in control module. But if there is movement in angle sensor reading or there is no reading than it means that there is a problem at angle sensor. This could happened due to multiple reasons like faulty angle sensor, damage wiring harness of the angle sensor, improper installation of angle sensor, failure of any other fault code in system as all the other control modules are also connected with each other with the help of CAN line system.
  • To find out reason behind this fault code first you need to check position of angle sensor is proper or not. If angle sensor position is not proper than also this fault code will store in control module. Remove angle sensor outside, aligned sensor to its required position and then again placed to its original position. Now perform steering angle sensor calibration with the help of scan tool. After this fault code should not be present, but if still it is present than it means that there is some other problem.
  • Now check wiring harness of angle sensor. Check power supply, ground, and CAN line wire. Turn the ignition ON and check power supply, there would be two main power supply, ground wire and two CAN line wire (High can, Low can). If there is something missing from these check wiring harness. If found any blown fuse or damage wiring harness than replace or repair accordingly. After fixing wiring or power supply problem there should be no fault code store in control module.
  • If Still fault code is store in control module. Than it might be possible that there some other problem in the system which is causing this fault code to be store in control module. Check all the other control module like DSC control module, steering control module, ICM control module etc. As these control modules are connected with each other with CAN line. Due to which if there will be any problem or any internal failure in these control module. Than this kind of fault code could be store in control module. Check all these control module if there is any internal fault . Than repair or replace that control module so that this fault code should not store in control module.

Note:

Most of the time mechanic did not check all these things and take decision to replace steering angle sensor to solve this fault code. Which could be good sometime but not all the time, because not all the time steering angle sensor is faulty. Sometime other some other things are also create this kind of fault code. So that before replacing steering angle sensor check all the above things so that you can find the better solution for this problem.

Most of the time in this situation performing steering angle sensor calibration is a good idea.

Solution:

  • Replace faulty steering angle sensor.
  • Perform steering angle sensor calibration process.
  • Repair damage wiring harness.
  • Replace blown fuse if require.
  • Repair or replace any other faulty control module.
