Fault code P0103 Mass air flow sensor 1 has a short circuit to ground is indicating problem at air mass sensor. Air mass sensor is use to monitor amount of air entering into engine. Air mass sensor send signal to engine control module of about how much air is entering into engine. Engine control module use this signal to inject fuel into the combustion engine. Failure of air mass sensor give wrong signal to engine control module. Due which engine control module inject at low or high amount of fuel into combustion engine. When this phenomenon happen engine control module did not get proper signal from air mass sensor. Due to which miss fire,missing or knocking problem can be seen. when all these thing happen engine control module store fault code P0103 Mass air flow sensor 1 has a short circuit to ground.

- P245C The switchover valve for bypass exhaust gas circulation cooler has a short circuit to ground.
- P0598 The coolant thermostat has a short circuit to ground.
- P0034 the output for te switchover valve bypass flap charge air has a short circuit to ground.
When found these all fault code together at engine control module go to check fuse at box. if all these fault code coming togather than this 15amp fuse is blown replace it, it will solve problem.
Causes of P0103 Mass air flow sensor 1 has a short circuit :
- Faulty airmass sensor.
- Blown fuse.
- Clogged air filter.
- Damage wiring harness.
- Faulty engine control module.
Symptoms :
- Engine will start miss firing.
- No power while driving.
- Hassitation at engine.
- fault code will store in engine control module.
How to trouble shoot :
- Mechanic need scan vehicle to find out fault code. When found fault code P0103 Mass air flow sensor 1 has a short circuit.
- Mechanic need to start solving this problem from checking air filter condition. When air filter is not change at certain time, than air filter get clogged with dirt due to which rate of air flow get slow and this problem can be seen.
- ยท If air filter is good then go to check failure of air mass sensor or broken sensor from inside of air mass sensor. Also check dirt deposition in air mass sensor, if found dirt on air mass sensor then clean it. When air mass sensor is clean than it can solve your problem.
- If all the above is good than go to check wiring harness of air mass sensor also power supply and ground.
- there are four pin in socket of air mass sensor. Pin(1)5volt, Pin (2) ground, Pin(3) 12volt, Pin (4) 5volt. Check all these all must be present.
- If any one of among these things power supply, ground and signal is not ok than check damage wiring harness or blown fuse.
- In case if power supply and wiring harness is good than there is only one think than can be faulty which is air mass sensor.
- Replacing air mass sensor will solve problem.
Solution of P0103 Mass air flow sensor 1 has a short circuit :
- Replace damage air filter.
- Remove deposit dir from air mass sensor.
- Repair damage wiring harness.
- Replace blown fuse.
- Replace air mass sensor.
