Fault code 258300 EGR pressure sensor ,diesel particulate filter,signal:signal too high is related to the problem with exhaust gas pressure sensor. Exhaust gas pressure sensor is use to monitor the pressure difference between intake and out take of the particulate filter. It is located at left side of engine above particulate filter. It is connected with particulate filter by a rubber pipe. When exhaust back pressure sensor send irregular signal or faulty signal about exhaust back pressure to engine control module. Than engine control module set fault code 258300 EGR pressure sensor diesel particulate filter signal too low.
Mostly this fault code or this type drive train issue happen when vehicle is at speed of 100-120 km/h. At this particular speed you might feel this problem while driving. When it start happening at low speed than it means that either there is some leak or there is huge amount of carbon deposition on exhaust gas recirculating system.
Causes of 258300 EGR pressure sensor diesel particulate filter signal too low :
- Faulty diesel particulate filter sensor.
- Block diesel particulate filter.
- Leak diesel particulate filter.
- Damage wiring harness of sensor.
Symptoms of 258300 EGR pressure sensor diesel particulate filter signal too low :
- Drive train fault will illuminate on display.
- Check engine light will illuminate on cluster meter.
- Loss of power while driving at high speed 100-120 km/h.
- Fault code will store in engine control module.
How to trouble shoot :
- When found fault code 258300 EGR pressure sensor diesel particulate filter signal too low store in engine control module. Mechanic need to check signal of exhaust back pressure sensor with the help of scan tool. When you found some error or irregular signal from exhaust back pressure sensor. Than go to check the reason behind that irregular signal from exhaust back pressure sensor.
- First do a visual inspection at exhaust back pressure sensor if found leak at diesel particulate filter than repair the leak or replace whole diesel particulate filter.
- If diesel particulate filter is not leak, than go to check wiring harness of exhaust back pressure sensor. If found damage wiring harnes there than repair it.
- Most of the time fault of exhaust back pressure sensor is store in engine control module while driving at high speed like 100-120 km/h. When you are suffering from the same issue than replace exhaust back pressure sensor. After replacing exhaust back pressure sensor take a test drive at high speed above 120 km/h. This time fault code should not be store again in engine control module.
- There might be some other problem also which can cause this fault code like leak at exhaust gas recirculating system or a huge amount of carbon deposition on exhaust gas recirculating system. If found leak than replace leak part or pipe. If there is no leak than clean deposit carbon at exhaust gas recirculating system that will solve problem.
- Than go to check carbon deposition on diesel particulate filter sensor. If there is carbon deposition on diesel particulate filter sensor than clean that carbon from sensor. If still there is a problem of diesel particulate filter than replace diesel particulate filter sensor.
- If after replacing diesel particulate filter sensor fault code still store in engine control module. Than perform diesel particulate filter cleaning process with the help of scan tool as per the instructions given in scan tool properly. If there will be any mistake while performing DPF cleaning process fault code will store in engine control module. Than there might be the problem of clogged diesel particulate filter. In this situation replace diesel particulate filter with one which should not be use or carbon deposition in it. After this your problem should solve and fault code should erase from engine control module memory.

- Replace faulty exhaust back pressure sensor.
- Repair or replace leak diesel particulate filter.
- Repair damage wiring harness of diesel particulate filter sensor.
- clean diesel particulate filter.
- Replace diesel particulate filter.
