P012C00 the pressure sensor upstream

Fault code P012C00P012C00 the pressure sensor upstream of the turbocharge has a short circuit to groundis related to the problem with the pressure sensor of turbocharger which is used to monitor the amount of pressure of air into intake manifold. Turbocharger or super charger is use to increase amount of air into combustion chamber by creating pressure in the intake system. Generally turbocharger is driven by exhaust gas pressure which comes out after burning into combustion engine.

The intake of turbocharge is where they get there filter air through air filter. Pressure sensor of the intake manifold use to monitor the pressure of air coming from air filter and go towards turbocharger. When there is some leak at intake of turbocharger engine control module can set this fault code store in engine control module. Sometime this could be happed due to faulty turbocharger pressure sensor or damage wiring harness of the pressure sensor upstream of the turbocharge.

Causes of P012C00 the pressure sensor upstream:

Faulty pressure sensor upstream of turbocharger.

Carbon deposition on the face of sensor.

Leak intake of turbocharger.

Damage wiring harness of the pressure senosr upstream of the turbocharger.

Failure of other sensor related to the system.

Symptoms of P012C00 the pressure sensor upstream;

Engine sound will be different if this fault code will store in engine control moudle.

little bit jurking will feel while driving.

Low pickup while driving at high speed.

Fault code will store in engine control module.

How to trouble shoot:

When found fault code P012C00 The pressure sensor upstream of the turbocharge store in engine control module. First go to engine compartment and check visually at turbocharger intake surrounding area. This fault code can be store in control module due to leak at intake of turbocharger. Check if there is some leak at intake of turbocharger than repair that leak area. Measure leak of air intake at turbocharger can be from the joint at intake manifold. In V8 engine there are two air mass sensor on the intake manifold . There could be leak at joint of air mass sensor and mouth of turbocharger. Sometime body of air mass sensor get disconnect from its joint area. Due to which air get enter into combustion engine without measure by air mass sensor.

When there is no leak at the joint of intake of turbocharge or at air mass sensor body joint. Than go to check the condition of pressure sensor, remove sensor out from its body check if carbon deposition is there than clean that carbon deposition from sensor. Refit sensor into its place and take a short trial of vehicle to check if problem is still present or finish. When fault code is still store in control module after cleaning carbon from sensor. That there could be some other things which is causing this fault code store in control module.

Check wiring harness of the sensor if found any damage there than repair that. Check voltage across connector of the sensor, remove socket of the sensor check corrosion at connector and check voltage with the help of multimeter. There would be three wires 5V, ground and a signal wire. Check voltage with the help of mutimeter, if voltage is proper. Than it could be possible that sensor itself is faulty. This fault code could be store in engine control module due failure of some other control module as there are many sensors which are connected to each other.

In this situation if there is some other fault code also store in engine control module along with this fault code. Than give attention on those all fault codes. So that problem can be solve that what the exact faulty sensor is. If there are so many fault code is store in control module related to the problem with air intake into combustion engine. Than it could be possible that turbocharger is under failure condition. Check turbocharger condition without removing it out, check. If its fins are broken or not, check if it consuming more oil, check if it have core problem.

Solution :

Repair leak area in intake of turbocharger.

clean carbon deposition on the sensor.

Repair damage wiring harness of the sensor.

Replace faulty pressure sensor upstream of the turbocharge.

Special note :

When this fault code is store in engine control module. First of all you just need to follow the guidline given above. Before replacing any sensor or part check everything properly. most of the time if this fault code is store in engine control module along with some other fault code’s. which indicate problem of about air intake into combustion engine. Than read all the fault code’s carefully as there are many sensor’s and acutator are there . Which are use to measure the intake of air throung intake manifold. like if there will be some other problem or fault of any other sensor. Than also this fault code could be store in engine control module. Check and replace exact faulty sensor so that repair cost can be cheap.
