Level control system failure in bmw is known as Electronic Ride Height control system (EHC). In bwm there are two types of vehicle which are occupied with ride height control system one is 5,7 series vehicle and the other one is X5,X7 series vehicle. In this article ride height failure, symptoms, causes and solution are explained. There are four main important components in ride height system who perform there function to maintain ride height system.

  1. Ride height control module.
  2. Air compressor and valve block.
  3. Ride height sensor.
  4. Airmatic balloons.

When there is any problem occurs in these parts ride height control module will store fault code in the system. Control module store fault code in the system as per the signal from all those components. On the basis of fault code problem can be solve like, if there is some fault code store in the system which indicate problem at air compressor than you will need to work on that particular part.

Kind of fault problem’s :

  1. Compressor does not turn ON.
  2. Vehicle height does not rising or lowering.
  3. Vehicle height rise only from one side.
  4. Height malfunction indicator lamp on cluster.
  5. Vehicle height rise but after sometime height goes all the way down.

How to trouble shoot level control system failure in bmw:

When there is any problem occurs in vehicle regarding to ride height control system. It create more problem to drive as vehicle height might be not rising or not lowering. In this situation solving the problem regarding ride height control system is very important.

This could be happen to multiple reasons like, faulty ride height control module, leak air balloons, leak air pipe line, faulty ride height sensor, etc.

 Finding the reason may not be easy, but we can make it easy with the help of scan tool. With the help of scan tool scan vehicle and find the fault code store in ride height control module.

First of all if vehicle height is not rising and there is no fault code store in the system. Than first of all check air compressor it is turning ON or not. If compressor does not turn ON than check the reason behind ( check fuse , relay and wiring harness of air compressor etc ) that and solve that problem so that compressor can work properly. But if compressor is working and turning ON than check pressure of compressor if it is making good pressure ( pressure can be vary according to the vehicle ) or not. If it does not make good enough pressure than repair or replace that faulty air compressor. There might be so many other problem also due to which this problem could be seen.

For example if ride height control module store fault code regarding fault at ride height sensor. Like mechanical fault at ride height sensor. Than it means that there is some problem at ride height sensor. So in this situation you need to check the area of ride height sensor. Sometime arm of sensor get disconnected from its position due to which mechanical fault get store in control module. Connect the arm of sensor to its original position so that fault code can be solve.

When control module store fault code about leak in the system. Than in this situation you need to check leak in system. Leak can be present anywhere like, air pipeline, valve block, compressor, air balloons. Find leakage at all these parts than repair or replace that leak part.

If all the above things are good and there is no any problem in those all the things than check ride height control module itself. Check fuse, relay and wiring harness of control module. If found any problem regarding failure of control module than replace that faulty ride height control module.

Solution of level control system failure in bmw :

  1. Replace leak air balloon or air pipe line.
  2. Repaire damage wiring harness of control module or replace blown fuse and relay.
  3. Replace faulty control module.
  4. Replace ride height sensor.
  5. Repair or replace faulty air compressor.

Note :

If ride height warning light illuminate on the cluster metere and show some problem in the system. than first of all the thing you need to check fault code store in system with the help of scan tool. check fault code store in the system and go to solve that problem according to the fault code.

Like, if fault code store indicate problem at air compressor, than you need to check the problem at air compressor if it is turnig ON or not, damage wiring harness, blown fuse and relay etc

As it is if fault code indicate problem at ride height control module than go to check problem at ride height control module. check fuse, relay, and wiring harness of control module etc.
