D71402 ICM rear left sensor signal invalid

Fault code D71402 ICM rear left sensor signal invalid is related to the problem with ride height control system in vehicle. There are sensors on each four wheel, which are use to know the level of vehicle from each side of four wheels are known as ride height sensor. Vehicle which are occupied with ride height control system, have four important things to maintain ride height system.

  1. Ride height control module.
  2. Air compressor & Valve block.
  3. Ride height sensor.
  4. Air matic balloons.

These are the list of that four important parts ride height control module, air compressor, valve block, ride height sensor. Each of them perform there own function in the process of maintaining ride height control system. When there is any problem or failure occurs with any one of these parts. Ride height control module will measure that problem and will store the fault code related to that failure. Like if there is any problem occurs in the control module it will store fault code, that there is some electrical problem in control module. Like that when ride height control module receive faulty signal or communication error from ride height control sensor than it will store fault code D71402 ICM rear left sensor signal invalid.

Causes of D71402 ICM rear left sensor signal invalid :

  • Faulty ride height control sensor.
  • Damage wiring harness of sensor.
  • Mechanical fault at sensor.
  • Faulty ride height control module.

Symptoms of D71402 ICM rear left sensor signal invalid :

  • There will be a warning light on cluster meter.
  • Height of vehicle will not be stable.
  • Height of vehicle may not rise or lower.

How to trouble shoot :

  • As this fault code is related to the problem with ride height control system you need to work on it very carefully.
  • Whenever there is some problem occurs with ride height system in vehicle like height not rising or not lowering. In some situation from right side vehicle height is higher than left side. Like all this there might be so many problems can be in vehicle.
  • To find out actually what happened and what kind of problem is there in vehicle due to which there is a problem with vehicle height system. You need to scan vehicle with the help of scan tool. When found fault code D71402 ICM rear left sensor signal invalid.
  • First of all you need to check values of all two or four ride height sensor with the help of scan tool. To do this you simply need to enter in ride height control system (EHC), from here you need to enter in read data stream. From this option you can check the reading of ride height sensor. If there is no reading from rear left ride height sensor, low or high reading from right side height sensor than you need to check the reason behind this.
  • Sometime due too leak air balloon height of vehicle get lower at that particular side. For example if rear left height airmatic balloon is leak due to which height of vehicle from that side will be too low. For this reasons ride height sensor can will go all the way down. In this situation left side ride height sensor will show low reading or no reading in comparison of right side height sensor.
  • So first check if airmatic balloon is leak than replace that leak balloon. Than go too check problem at ride height sensor. But if there is no balloon leakage than also there is a problem of ride height sensor. Than in this situation you will need to check height sensor.
  • Ride height sensor can be seen near airmatic balloon on the arm of Lower arms and vehicle chassis. First check the linkage of sensor, sometime linkage of sensor get disconnected due to which this fault code can be store in control module. If linkage is connected than you need to check the wiring harness of the sensor.
  • If wiring harness is damage than repair that damage wiring harness. If there is no damage at wiring harness than go to replace that particular ride height sensor from vehicle. Which can solve the problem of fault code store in control module and solve the problem of vehicle height system.

Solution :

  • Replace leak airmatic balloon.
  • Repair damage wiring harness of ride height sensor.
  • Re-connect disconnected linkage of sensor.
  • Replace faulty damage wiring harness of ride height sensor.
