5F9A Control-time fault lifting- BMW E70

fault code 5F9A control-time fault lifting is related the electronic height control ( EHC ) module. When height control module detect any wrong signal from height control system. Height control system include airmaitic compressor, level control valve, height level sensor, air reservoir. When electronic height control system is not in operation then height control module (EHC) set fault code 5F9A control-time lift fault lifting.

How risky it is to drive with this fault code :

Driving with fault code 5F9A Control-time fault lifting can be risky to drive. Because when this fault code store in height controller there can be a problem with height control system. Like height of one side can be down and other side can be up which will create problem in driving. In this situation while driving car will move the down height side of vehicle.

Causes 5F9A control-time fault lifting :

  • Faulty airmatic control module.
  • Faulty level control pressure sensor.
  • Damage wiring harness of level control valve.
  • Internal failure of height control module.
  • Faulty height level sensor.
  • Internal failure of height control module relay.

Symptoms :

  • Height of vehicle will not in operation.
  • Suspension warning light will illuminate on cluster meter.
  • there will be a small missbehavior while driving.
  • Fault code will store in height controller.

Solution 5F9A control-time fault lifting :

  • Repair or replace airmatic compressor.
  • Replace faulty level control valve.
  • Repair damag wiring harness.
  • replace damage automatic compressor pipe.
  • Also replace faulty electronic height control module.
  • replace faulty electronic height level sensor.

How to diagnose fault code 5F9A :

Mechanic should start diagnosing this fault code from scaning the fault code. Check the status of fault code of it is present in active or intermittent status. By using scan tool check the signal of each four height level sensor and level pressure control valve.

  • start from checking the fuse and relay of height control module. If it is good and power is reaching to the relay and coming out from relay.
  • Then go check wiring harness of the airmatic compressor, level control pressure sensor, drain valve and also pressure sensor of airmatic compressor.
  • When found in BMW X5 or X7 check the wiring harness of drain valve and pressure sensor of airmatic compressor. If wiring harness of this sensor will be damage or shorted than it is possible that JBE will not power up the fuse and relay of electronic height control module system.
  • To get power on fuse and relay of ECH system repair the damage wiring harness of drain valve and level control pressure sensor also check the power supply.
  • Drain valve is operate by two wire 1) 2.5 volt wire, 2) ground wire.
  • Level control pressure sensor is operate by three wire 1) 12V wire, 2) 5V wire, 3) ground wire.
  • airmatic pressure sensor is operate by two wire 1) 5 volt wire, 2) ground wire.
  • if all these power supply is good and there in no wiring harness is damage. Then check the faulty sensor between them and replace that.
  • Always when this fault code is appear there two chances that can be happen. 1) one is that wiring harness of EHC system is damage or a faulty sensor. 2) other one is blown fuse, loos connector of relay, or its internal failure.
  • Leak inside the electronic height control system (EHC) is also responsible to set fault code.
