264100 swirl flap actuator position sensor signal

Fault code 264100 swirl flap actuator position sensor signal is related to the problem with swirl flap actuator. Which is use to open or close the intake of air into combustion engine. There are four flap on the face of intake manifold before head. Which are controlled by swirl flap actuator motor according to the requirement of combustion engine. The main reason behind the use of swirl flap in engine to mix proper amount of air and fuel by Lenthening the route of air entering into combustion engine. When there is some problem occurs due to which swirl flap does not work properly than engine control module set fault code 264100 swirl flap actuator position sensor signal store in control module.

When found fault code store in engine control module. You will see that engine is not running properly as it should run. There might some missing, jerking, at engine while engine run at idle speed. This could be happen due to improper mixture of air fuel ratio. Because when there is some problem occurs at swirl flap actuator it will not mix air fuel ratio properly.

Causes of 264100 swirl flap actuator position sensor signal:

Stuck swirl flap actuator motor in one position.

Faulty swirl flap actuator motor.

Broken intake manifold runner spindle.

Damage wiring harness of the actuator motor.

Blown fuse of actuator motor if any.

Carbon deposition at the intake manifold runner.

Symptoms of 264100 swirl flap actuator position sensor signal:

Pick up issue while driving at high speed.

Low mileage due to improper mixture of air fuel ratio.

Noise from intake manifold.

Check engine warning light will illuminate on cluster meter.

Fault code will store in engine control module.

How to trouble shoot :

When engine start misbehaving like, engine start missing, jerking, no pickup while driving that it means that there is some problem occuring at engine compartment. It could be either electrical or mechanical fault at the engine compartment. To find what is causing at engine due to which engine is missing you need to hook up scan tool to vehicle.

When found fault code store in engine control module. Than you need to check live data of swirl flap actuator with the help of scan tool. check if swirl flap actuator motor is working or not, accelerate the engine and than check the value of swirl flap actuator. When accelerator pedal is press than swirl flap actuator motor value should increase or decrease. When value of swirl flap actuator increase or decrease after accelerator pedal pressing. than it means that swirl flap is working fine.

There might be some other problem at the swirl flap actuator. Like carbon deposition on the intake manifold runner flap. Because when there will be carbon deposition on the intake manifold runner. Than they will not able to move from there even if swirl flap actuator will try to move them. In this situation there will be the problem of load occuring at the swirl flap actuator. Due to which engine control module will store fault code store in engine control module.

Remove Swirl flap actuator motor and intake manifold so than deposit carbon on them can be clean due to which intake manifold runner is not working. After cleaning intake manifold runner and and swirl flap actuator refit them again. Now swirl flap actuator motor would start working easly as there is nothing left due to which intake manifold runner did not work properly.

In case while checking value of swirl flap actuator motor it does not showing any reading. While pressing accelerator pedal swirl flap actuator motor reading did not increase or decrease. Than in this situation there is a chance of faulty swirl flap actuator motor. Check wiring harness of the swirl flap actuator motor, firstly check connection at the swirl flap actuator if there is any loose connection than refit the connector of the actuator so that it should start working properly.

If there is no loose connection at the connector of actuator motor than check wiring harness of the sensor. Disconnect connector and check voltage accross connector there would be some voltage present at the connector when ignition key is turn ON.

if voltage is present at the connector of swirl flap actuator and still there is a fault code store in engine control module than it mean that actuator motor is internally failed. Check the resistance of the actuator motor with the help of multi meter. If resistance of the actuator motor is above or below required value than replace faulty actuator motor.

Solution of 264100 swirl flap actuator position sensor signal:

Repair or replace broken or damage swirl flap.

Clean carbon deposrion on the swirl flap.

Clean carbon deposition inside intake manifold.

Repair damage wiring harness of the swirl flap actuator motor.

Repair or replace swirl flap actuator motor assembly.

Replace blown fuse of flap actuator motor.

Repair or replace faulty engine control module.

Precaution need to do while trouble shooting 264100:

Most of the time when diagnostics find fault code 264100 store in engine control module. They use to remove out only swirl flap actuator motor to inspect actuator motor. They do not remove intake manifold to inspect swirl flap condition. As when swirl flap get stuck at the face of intake manifold due to heavy amount of carbon deposition over there. Swirl flap will not be able to move from there places due which also 264100 fault code will store in engine control module.

Sometime when diagnostics use to remove intake manifold to inspect swirl flap conditions. They break those flag as they do not have experience to remove them perfect. So to this work you need a highly skilled mechanic who have experience to do work with this kind of problem. This operations or inspecting conditions of swirl flap and swirl flap actuator motor need to be done under a highly experience mechanic.

Special note:

Sometime failure of injector or leak at intake manifold may be the reason to store this fault code in engine control module. Before removing intake manifold inspect visually if there is any leak over there. Also check function of injector if found any block injector which is not spraying needed quantity of fuel in the system.
