00573 Steering Torque Sensor ( G269 ) – No Signal

Fault code 00573 steering torque sensor (G269) – no signal is related to steering control system. Steering torque sensor G269) is use in steering control system to monitor the amount of torque applied by driver on steering wheel to turn left or right. torque sensor monitor this torque ans send this applied force to steering control module. Steering control module receive this signal from torque sensor and power up the steering moter to turn the steering left or right. When steering control module monitor any wrong signal or no signal from torque sensor then it set the fault code 00573 steering torque sensor signal (G269) – no signal.

Causes of 00573 steering torque sensor (G269) :

  • faulty steering torque sensor (G269).
  • Damage wiring harness of the torque sensor.
  • Internal failure of torque sensor.
  • Faulty steering control module.

Symptoms :

  • Steering system will become so hard while driving.
  • Steering warning light will display on cluster meter.
  • Fault code will store in steering control module.

Solution 00573 steering torque sensor (G269) :

  • Replace faulty steering torque sensor.
  • Repair damage wiring harness.
  • Replace faulty steering control module.
  • Perfrom steering calibration.

How to trouble soot :

  • mechanic should start diagnosing this trouble code from scanning the fault code and it status. wheather it is present in active static or history.
  • Manually check the fuse and power supply to steering control module.
  • Check the power supply and ground wire at torque sensor.
  • Then check the data stream and monitor the signal of steering torque sensor signal, then monitor the signal of torque sensor received by steering control module, and then power supply from steering control module to steering moter.
  • If torque sensor is not giving proper torque sensor signal to steering control module. Then change the torque sensor, and if it is giving proper signal to the steering control module. Then check the power supply of motor if it is coming out from steering control module or not.
  • If power supply is not coming out from steering control module to steering motor than it is possible that the steering module is faulty.
  • And if power supply is comming out from steering control module to steering motor than still steering is hard then it means that motor is not working.

Special note :

  • This fault code can be store in controller, Because sometime when mechanic use to work at front area to remove suspension, while changing tie rod arm the torque sensor can be disturb, and can generate this fault code.
  • they use to hammer the tie rod to dismental the joint due to which torque sensor get fail.
  • before changing torque sensor do perform basic setting and calibration.

How serious it is to drive with this fault code:

Driving with this fault code store in control module can cause serious problem. As when this fault code store in control module steering operation may be improper. When steering operation become improper than it could be possible that when you try to turn the steering wheel while driving and steering does not turn due to fautly torque sensor.

In this kind of situation you need to repair or replace the faulty steering torque sensor. As steering torque sensor play an important role in the steering operation. If torque sensor will not give signal to the steering control moduel to turn the steering than steering control module will not turn steering. This is the reason why steering torque sensor play an important role in turning steering wheel.
